Prepaid Solar Service Opening to Residential Homeowners Outside of Gated Communities

Our on-demand prepaid solar utility service that was previously confined to residential properties in gated communities has started piloting prepay solar service directly to homeowners in Gauteng area now.

Once service has been requested and installed, users can simply recharge solar power per kilowatt hour using their mobile app.

Homeowners or renters can request homeowner to join waitlist on the WiSolar website.

The solar company focuses primarily on a power purchase agreement (PPA) business model where WiSolar installs and maintains a solar system on a customers home, then sells power to the customer via the app as required per kWh for a 10 to 15-year term. This business model allows property owners to install solar at no upfront cost.

The prepaid solar utility aims to remove high cost, inconvenience, friction, and fragmentation associated with residential solar installs for homeowners.

Bridge electricity service gap by assisting municipalities using prepaid solar and climate technology for affordable homes while meeting critical SDG goals.

The company’s dual energy system combines traditional grid electricity with solar power. This allows homeowners and businesses to switch to solar seamlessly.

WiSolar is embracing decarbonisation, decentralisation and digitisation to do something new that brings value to customers. The use of smart technologies on both the generation and consumption side permits a wider, and greener range of energy sources into the mix. And the latest Internet-of-Things technologies permit a level of transparency and data-driven understanding of use that improves energy management for suppliers and customers alike.

Pricing: Introductory pricing for new customers is R 2.00 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for in-app recharges. There’s no need for a credit card, and users get unlimited usage and updates.
